Introduction
ShopSummary is a Chrome extension that uses AI to summarize product reviews across major online retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Wayfair, Newegg, Etsy, eBay, Costco, Lowe’s, and B&H Photo. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is processed, and which third-party services are involved.
What Data the Extension Accesses
When you click “Summarize” on a supported product page, the extension reads publicly available information from that page to generate your summary — such as review content and basic product details like the title and price.
The extension does not access your account on any retailer, your order history, payment details, browsing history, or any personal information.
What Data Is Stored Locally
The extension stores a small amount of data in your browser to provide its features:
- Cached summaries — Summaries are temporarily cached to improve performance. Cache expires automatically.
- Usage count — A counter used solely to manage your plan’s monthly limit.
- Saved products — Any products you choose to save for your shopping list or comparison.
- Preferences — Basic settings such as whether you’ve completed onboarding.
All locally stored data can be removed by uninstalling the extension.
Third-Party Services
ShopSummary uses a small number of trusted third-party services to deliver its features. No personal information (name, email, account details) is ever shared with these services.
- AI provider — Review content is sent to an AI service to generate summaries. No data is retained after processing.
- Price history provider — For supported retailers, a product identifier may be used to retrieve publicly available price history data.
- Payment processor — Subscription payments are handled by Stripe. We never have access to your payment card details. Governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
